Experience

I spent the past two years living in China and teaching English at a public high school. During that time, I privately tutored about ten hours per week. I tutored students from the ages of 5 to 16 in both individual and small group settings. The subject matter focused on English writing, reading, and fluency, as well as SAT, TOEFL, and IELTS prep. I also taught business English to a small group of corporate employees. My passion for English, teaching, and helping students succeed drives me to be a tutor. I believe that individual attention for students helps them not only understand content more deeply, but also helps them find the best way for them to learn across all fields of study. Tutoring is not about imparting knowledge on a student, but guiding them to find the answers on their own.

My main hobbies include reading, running, and doing crafts. I also love to travel. In high school, I spent my junior year as an exchange student in Denmark and was able to travel around Europe. I have also lived in Russia and most recently spent two years living and teaching English in China. I currently work at the Apple Store and love technology!
