Private tutor in Lakewood, OH
Education
I completed my PhD in Art History at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where I specialized in nineteenth-century French art. I also received my MA in Art History from Rutgers, and as an undergraduate, I attended Case Western Reserve University, receiving a BA summa cum laude (3.9 GPA) with majors in Art History and French and a minor in women's studies.
Experience
While earning my PhD, I spent four years teaching courses at the college level. I have taught Art History courses, both broad surveys and more specific topics like Impressionism. I have also taught Expository Writing (similar to AP English Language and Composition), and I understand the challenges students face in identifying important ideas through reading texts and then writing about them. Beyond these experiences at the college level, I have taught workshops in art history for people of all ages, used museums as classrooms, and tutored teenagers and adults in writing and other subjects for the past ten years. I like to teach students because I love watching their faces light up as they begin to understand the concepts we're working on. I like being able to provide students with skills that they will eventually be able to use to master any subject they want independently.
